The COVID-19 outbreak continues to rapidly evolve and is forcing changes and disruption to senior living residents, families and professionals within this industry we support and are dedicated to. As we have made adjustments to our own business practices, we remain ever mindful of the industry we serve and the efforts of the people and leadership on the front lines of caring for residents.

Every 24 hours seems to bring a new set of complications and concerns. And as we adapt to new processes of care, new methods of communication and new behaviors of human interaction, we reflect on the guiding purpose and principles that motivate us as senior living professionals. We are a “people business” industry. We serve to maintain, improve and protect a higher quality of life. And it’s situations like this, that our true strength and abilities will shine.

We have seen examples of this in the past during natural disasters and economic downturns. This industry bonds together, united by compassion and collaboration, and perseveres with a resilient spirit. And while this crisis is not restricted to a country, class or creed, we are already beginning to witness prudent, responsible actions by communities joining together with a common cause and greater good for all.

Every community is experiencing their own challenges, and the answers we have today will be required to evolve to different solutions tomorrow. The fluidity of the current environment demands an approach that is nimble and sensible in how we proceed through this crisis.

Understandably, senior living communities are 100% focused on the health and well-being of the people at their communities.
